How does Carroll satirize the English tradition of tea-time in the chapter?

I think Alice experiences what a child’s perception of what British tea time is actually like. There are arguments and much thought put into pointless riddles. Is Carroll suggesting British tea time is filled with idle chat and pointless discussion? I think this might be the case.
