Alfarabi, The Political Writings Background

The Political Writings is a book written by Alfarabi and was published in 2001 by Cornell University Press. This volume consists of four of Alfarabi's most significant texts that focus on classicists, medievalists, and scholars of religion and Middle Eastern studies.

The novel explores and intertwines Greek philosophy and religions, such as Islam and Judaism. Alfarabi goes on to detail the structure of Islamic philosophy and its journey through the years.

The volume was originally written in Arabic and was translated by Charles E. Butterworth and he also provides additional notes in order to further detail and add to Alfarabi's statements and views on Islamic philosophy.
