We might likely argue that his decision to tesser was a poor one. He was well aware that the only person who'd attempted it before him hadn't returned..... he knew he was taking a risk. As a scientist, Mr. Murry was doing his job..... conducting an experiment. Ending up on Camazotz was an accident and a mistake. Unfortunately, when his children arrive, attempting to tesser and escape the planet cannot be experimental..... he needs to plan and make the right decisions.
