A Time to Kill

Did Jake Brigance in "A Time To Kill" initially take the case for the money and/or fame?

My teacher and I both agree that at the start of the film "A Time To Kill", Jake Tyler Brigance took Carl Lee Hailey's case for money and fame, although eventually he came to the realisation that Hailey was an innocent man, and pursued the case because it was the moral thing to do. This seems true, except I can't find any direct quotes from the film that prove that he was doing it for the money and fame first. Can anyone help me find some? Please! I have an exam in a few days.
