what does nana want for she and mariam ? are her goals realistic ? why o r why not ?

Nana just wants Mariam to stay with her. She wants to remain in poverty, holding Miriam back from any kind of life. She projects onto Miriam all her pain and angst. So I wouldn't really call Nana's desires as goals.
