The whole quote is actually quite chilling, "I'm a different breed of man, Mariam. Where I come from, one wrong look, one improper word, and blood is spilled. Where I come from, a woman's face is her husband's business only; I want you to remember that. “When the Taliban took control they stripped women of all rights and identity. Rasheed feels that he is a different breed of man than the "progressive" Afghan husbands who let their women parade around the streets of Kabul uncovered. According to Rasheed this "new breed" of man takes ownership of their women treating them more like a pet than a human being.
