Miriam believed that the sun rose and set with her father; she adored him. After suffering the loss of Nana, she believes that Jalil will take care of her, but that doesn't happen. In fact, he casts her away. Her mother (Nana) committed suicide because her daughter wanted to forge a close relationship with her father and felt threatened....... and then, he was no father at all.
