She is relatively cheerful, although she also appears exhausted. She and Mitch discuss such simply subjects as whether or not he may kiss her; she tries to behave innocently, but they have many awkward moments as she refuses his advances.

Blanche is falsely apologetic and ready for the evening to end. She rolls her eyes at Mitch's declarations behind his back and plays it differently to his face. Mitch could be anyone.... her flirtation is for his benefit. As is her tolerance. Blanche's reality consists of the husband she lost and the memories of the evening he died. Mitch is simply a man.
