A Streetcar Named Desire

Symbolism and Allusion?

Why does Stanley dress in bright primary colours, what does this tell us about his character?

This is an interesting question. My take on it is that colours hide the faults and superficiality of people. Note that Blanche's personality is full of deception and denial. Stanley is pretty much neutral. You get what you see and he says what he feels. His lack of colour shows his brutal sincerity.
