The film that the Senior Class watched about United States ski troops brought “a recognizable and friendly face to the war,” and Leper could identified with what he saw. Gene saw this as the turning point in Leper’s life. Leper said,“You know what? I’m almost glad this war came along. It’s a test, isn’t it, and only the things and the people who’ve been evolving the right way survive.”
