There are a variety of ways in which peace has left the school. The mood has become more serious with the summer session ending (a laid back time), and the beginning of the 'real' school year (time to hit the books). We also have the afteraffects of Finny's fall.

According to Gradesaver's summary and analysis:

"The peace of the summer session has finally been shattered by the return of the rigorous traditions of the Devon school, and the influence of the war on the students and faculty." (Gradesaver Summary)

Gradesaver's analysis goes into the changes the school has undergone in great detail The direct link is provided below;

By the way....... this question deals with Chapter Six.
