What happens to Ishmael an Alhaji? Where are they taken? By whom?

Ishmael and Alhaji are chosen by the Military Police and taken to the capital city of Sierra Leone. There, they undergo a sort of withdrawal from their lives as soldiers under the care of UNICEF.
