A Long Way Gone

chpt 18 pg 169: Beah writes " I believe children have the resilience to outlive their suffering, if given chance." Do u agree? Think back to the American juvenile justice system. Does beahs comment apply? Why or not?

Children do have an incredible resilience. Certainly if Beah thinks a child, like he was, has the resilience to heal from the Hell he went through, kids in the American justice system have a chance. Still, it is important to remember that every child is not the same and their experiences varies widely. Emotional trauma very subjective; there is no "normal", all people are different.
