chpt 16 pg 153,: beah writes "I had come to believe that people befriended onlyto exploit one another." Does it make sense that he feels this way? what about

the boys who were his friends before he joined the army?

Ever since the boys became homeless with no parents, they had to beware of being exploited. If it wasn't malicious people along the way, they were scared of both government and rebel armies. In most cases people wanted something from these boys; they wanted their innocence and, in many cases, their souls.
