What will happen to the group in Akobo Desert?

During the three days the group travels through the Akobo Desert, the group becomes hopeless. It is Uncle Jewiir who encourages Salva and keeps him moving. When the group is attacked by looters, Uncle Jewiir is killed.

In my opinion, the group may starve in the Akobo Desert, since the water there is no water or food for them. I think this because usually when you’re in a desert you have to fully prepared, however, Salva’s group isn’t that well prepared to survive a desert.
