A Long Walk to Water

What is the impact of having two different points of view (Salva and Nya) in the story.

I think Nya is the more minor character in the story. Still, she serves as a female point of view that, in some ways, parallels Salva. The author uses both children as a way to illustrate two different experiences within the same setting. The author then brings the two together in a shared connection at the end.
