A Doll's House

When the family was short of money, what did Nora do so they could celebrate Christmas?

What does this symbolize and suggest about her character?

I think she borrows it from Krogstad. Nora is a creature of habit and gender roles. She thinks it is her job, as a woman, to provide Christmas. It also brings her an amount of reinforcement and satisfaction.
