In Act 3, Why doesn't Helmer's forgiveness of Nora's forgery alter our opinion of him?

The guy is still a jerk. He only forgives Nora so she can owe him and he can treat her like a possession that needs more "instruction". Torvald's history with Nora is one of control and molding her into the submissive creature he wants.
