Fezziwig was the young Scrooge's jolly, selfless boss. The Ghost of Christmas Past shows Scrooge a reflection of the past where Fezziwig throws one of his parties. He represents the benevolence and joy than an employer should have for his employees. The happy scene of course juxtaposes Scrooge's own poor treatment of Bob Cratchit.
