The Ghost of Christmas Present is a jolly soul, who represents the happiness and celebration of life (and the season), as well as being a very special source of peace on Earth..... just a sprinkle from the water of his torch and poof..... all ill will disappears. He is dressed in flowing robes and surrounded by a sumptuous feast and ornate decorations. His life span is very short (he only lives for a day), which encourages the reader to understand how brief life really is, and how there really is no time like the present. This moment is all we're promised.
