THe two minutes of hate was a way for the Party to channel emotional/sexual frustrations against a common enemy that is visually identifiable. Goldstein becomes an ideological scapegoat for all the pent up repression and frustration inside outer party members. He becomes the personification of all that is perverse within themselves.
