Essentially, the Newspeak language was designed to limit the range of thought. Language was systematically purged of words that allow people to describe feelings and emotions. The result is a very sterile language that permits only facts and simple ideas. "Duckspeak" is an example of language destruction. Syme points out that duckspeak means, "to quack like a duck. It is one of those interesting words that have two contradictory meanings. Applied to an opponent, it is abuse; applied to someone you agree with, it is praise." Really there is no meaning to it other than to apply the same sounds to multiple situations.
