Motifs:

Doublethink- holding contradictory opinions, the effect is the Party's eventual ability to manipulate minds and make them believe anything they're told.

Decay of Civilization (London)- lack of management and/or incompetence of government.

Symbols:

Big Brother symbolizes the party.

The paperweight Winston purchases symbolizes the past.

St. Clement's symbolizes the things that have been lost.

Telescreens represent loss of individuality and symbolize the ultimate power of the government to control and monitor all actions.
