Evey has more going for her in "V for Vendetta". Although the rise of this fascist government is changing her world, Evey lives a life of comparative freedom compared to poor Winston Smith. Winston is an outer party drone merely surviving a relentless routine ever watched by the thought police. He lives in abject poverty and numbs his existence with corrosive Victory Gin. Evey works at a tv station and has a life outside the increasingly present fascist government. She lives in relative comfort but is alarmed by the rise of ultra right wing propaganda. Of course, in the end, Evey has a superhero to redeem a sick society; Winston has nobody.
