12 Angry Men

What is the purpose and task of the movie twelve angry men?

I read that it is a crash course in those passages of the Constitution that promise defendants a fair trial and the presumption of innocence. What does this mean?

Defendents are promised a fair trial. 12 Angry Men illustrates the process, and highlights way in which not everyone is afforded that right. In essence, it illustrates that defendants and the cases presented for and against them should be judged on facts. Prejudice, bias, and stereotyping have no business in a courtroom.
