Einstein's initial letter to the President is focused on warning the President of the strength of the new energy being produced with uranium. He warns the President that the strength of the bomb would be catastrophic. Einstein believed that watchfulness was necessary, that the bombs would be powerful but likely too heavy to be carried by plane. He writes the President as to how and where uranium supplies might be gotten, as the United States didn't have the necessary quantity, and how the Germans have stopped the mines they control, leading him to believe they are expanding the research of the Americans.
