How is the jury deliberation similar to a negotiation?

Basically many of the jurors disagree with each other. Some are bigoted, some are sensitive to the boy, some think the boy is guilty, and some just want to go home. Eventually the jurors must negotiate a verdict that all of them could at least accept.
